First military parade in seven years
March 25 th, 2015
For the first time in seven years, Pakistan held Monday a national military parade. The pomp parade was held in Islamabad, in particular to show that the country and its powerful army have the upper hand over the Taliban rebels. The last parade, traditionally held on 23 March, took place in 2008, the last year of General Pervez Musharraf’s military regime. The country was the target of a growing wave of attacks, attributed to the rebels of the Pakistan Taliban Movement (TTP), an ally of Al Qaeda. The parade was later cancelled for security reasons.
