Former leader finally laid to rest
April 7 th, 2015
The family of the former communist leader, Zhao Ziyang, had to wait a decade to bury their loved one’s ashes. Ziyang was disgraced in 1989 because of his opposition to armed intervention against the pro-democracy movement. The former Prime Minister and former Secretary General of the Chinese Communist Party have never been rehabilitated by Beijing. "We just want that he can rest in peace," said his son. Ten years after the death of his father, the younger son now has hope: the authorities have finally given the green light to bury the ashes of the former Communist Party leader.
