EMRS fails to save life
April 28 th, 2015
Durban –A man, fighting for his last breath, was left to die on Sunday night. Fighting against his attackers during a robbery in central Durban, he was stabbed in the head and twice in the chest. He lay slumped, struggled to breathe and was in bad shape. Police officers continually called the ambulance service from KZN’s EMRS for 30 minutes. According to an official, they were told that rescuers were busy and no ambulance was available for the man. He was left alone and died five minutes before paramedics arrived on scene. EMRS has a massive shortage of emergency vehicles, according to DA spokesperson Dr Imran Keeka, but they would refer the matter for further investigation.
