‘Flying’ sharks

A shark is truly an amazing creature and one of the most advanced, powerful and scariest aquatic predators. ‘Flying’ sharks will certainly not calm the anxiety of swimmers, divers and surfers, especially in SA. False Bay is home to the only shark species that ‘flies’ to catch prey: the Great White shark.  The bay has a rocky island called “Seal Island” which hosts a fur seal colony at Cape. A seal is a known delicacy of Great White sharks. The Great Whites leap from the water to catch the seals. According to an article published in the journal of Marine Biology Research,  a 11.5-foot Great White jumped eight feet out of the water!
