Gllencoe jail is on fire

KZN - Hundreds of prisoners were evacuated from the Glencoe prison in KwaZulu-Natal. Local authorities confirmed Monday afternoon that Glencoe prison caught fire. Thulani Zwane, KZN spokesman, reportedly said the fire started in the dining hall. Prison service, TP Mdluli told Times Live that there were no reports as yet on escaped prisoners or deaths. However, Mr Zwane stated that any escape seem impossible. Prisoners were held on the grounds by wardens. Reports that the local fire department had run out of water to extinguish the fire could not be confirmed.
